The AGA Dual Control Gas is everything you love about the AGA cooker, but with added flexibility and reduced running costs and is available with the ovens powered by a gas burner  and the hotplates heated by electric elements.   The Dual Control Gas comes with the choice of flue options; either conventional flue or powered flue.

The AGA Dual Control Gas looks much like a traditional AGA cooker and – just like the traditional model – the cast-iron ovens can be always available for use, creating that indefinable pre determined oven temperatures of a roasting oven, simmering oven and baking oven.

With an AGA Dual Control Gas, the two hotplates can be turned on and off independently, as they are powered by Electricity and each hotplate has its own element to provide heat.   This means you can make a reduction in the overall heat input into the room from the cooker when desired and, in turn, this has the benefit of reducing overall run costs. The boiling plate and simmering plate can be operated at the turn of a switch via the discreet control panel and so are on when you need them and off when you don’t.  As each hotplate has its own element it also means that you can do more cooking with the hotplates open without this having a detrimental affect to the oven temperature performance.   The heat up time of the hotplates is rapid too.  From cold to boiling takes approx 6 minutes and from cold to simmering takes approx 4 minutes.  If the ovens are turned off then it would take 10 minutes for the boiling plate and 6 minutes for the simmering plate to heat up.

Not only does the AGA Dual Control cook using the same principles as a traditional AGA, it provides ambient warmth from its three large cast iron ovens which is great for drying the washing or warming the dog on a cold and frosty day.   this ambient heat warms the kitchen and reduces the necessity to have one’s central heating turned on if you are working at home in the kitchen or vicinity of the AGA.  In summer you have the flexibility to use the electrical hotplates only and turn off the ovens completeley, if required.   Like the older traditional AGA cookers this model of AGA has its own flue system.  This can either be powered flue where a mechanical fan exhausts the products of combustion and cooking smells out to external wall or alternatively a conventional flue system which can locate in a lined chimney or alternatively a twin wall flue system.  Our skilled fitters can assist with the installation of all flues and gas lines for this appliance.

Dual Control Explained

The new  AGA Dual Control is everything you love about the AGA cooker, but with added flexibility and reduced running costs.
The AGA Dual Control looks much like a traditional AGA cooker and – just like the traditional model – the cast-iron ovens can be always available for use, creating that indefinable AGA warmth.

However the two hotplates can be turned on and off independently. This means you can make a reduction in the overall heat input into the room from the cooker when desired and, in turn, reduce running costs.

The AGA Dual Control has been designed to be simple to use. There’s one control to operate the hotplates, and a single control for the roasting, baking and simmering ovens and, on the 5-oven model, a separate button operates the additional two ovens and warming plate.

How the hotplates work

Behind the top left hand door sits a small dial which operates either the boiling plate, the simmering plate or both. In each of the hotplates there is a powerful heating element. The boiling plate will be ready to use in around 11 minutes from cold. The simmering plate will be ready to use in around 8 minutes.

How the ovens work

As with all previous heat-storage AGA cookers, the cast-iron ovens are indirectly heated from a single small heat source, the heat being conducted across to each oven in exactly the correct proportions to provide the different cooking temperatures for roasting, baking and simmering. This provides kind-to-food radiant heat which locks in moisture and goodness. On the larger five oven model, the left-hand ovens are a slow-cooking oven and warming oven. This part of the cooker has its own separate heat source; this section of the cooker is brought to temperature when required with a separate on-off button.

Operating temperatures

Typical oven temperatures in centre of oven at full heat: Please note that Aga ovens don’t heat just by hot air but by radiant heat so oven temperatures are only indicative and a much greater range of “cooking temperatures” are available in the Roasting and Baking ovens.

Roasting oven:    240 0C (Nominal)

Baking oven:       190 0C (Nominal)

Simmering oven: 115 0C (Nominal)

Each of the hotplates on the AGA Dual Control cooker – the boiling plate and simmering plate – can be turned on or off independently as required simply by turning the upper knob on the control panel. You can select either hotplate or both.
