HOW IT WORKS

The main castings are removed from your cooker and integral conducting plates are fitted beneath each oven. The hotplates are replaced with individual elements. The whole appliance is wrapped in high level insulation before being reassembled. The burner unit is removed and the Electrickit controls fitted in the old burner housing. The appliance is powered by, depending on model of conversion, a combination of either 13 amp electric supplies or a hard wired cooker connection. The work takes a full day to carry out by our professionally trained engineers.

The Electrickit conversion enables flexibility in operation of your cooker. You choose to leave the cooker on and when to turn it off, alternatively a time clock can be pre-set to do this whilst you are asleep or at work. Using the cooker flexibly will undoubtedly reduce your running costs and this will provide economic saving across the year.

Independent Cooking

The ovens work independently of the hobs. Giving greater flexibility between seasons and the ability to drastically reduce running costs especially in the summer months.

Improved Heat Up Times

The hotplate will heat up to full (boiling plate) in as little as 23 minutes* with the oven cold and with the oven on in 15 minutes. The temperature variation on both hotplates is the same, which is ideal if you want to have capacity to do a lot of boiling with a large number of pans or conversely low simmering with the use of both hotplates. The top oven will heat up to 180 degrees in 48 minutes from cold or alternatively the time clock system* can be timed to do this.

*Optional extra on ‘Classic’ conversion, Advanced conversion does come with integrated timer system and app control as standard

Reduced Running Costs

Save up to 75% on running costs when compared to the operation of radiant heat 24/7 Traditional AGA either powered by oil, gas or electricity (EC/EE 13amp).  Savings are dependent on model of conversion and how the converted cooker is operated on a daily/weekly/monthly basis.

THE MODELS

ELECTRICKIT ADVANCED CONVERSION

The new cutting-edge conversion kit available from ElectricKit. Bringing a traditional cooker into a modern generation, featuring all the engineering prowess of the ElectricKit Classic but with a new state-of-the-art touch screen control and timer system, that can even be controlled remotely through a Wi-Fi accessible device and a dedicated app. A sleek and easy to use interface gives you full control control over where you want the heat, how much heat you want and when the heat comes on!

STATE OF THE ART TOUCHSCREEN CONTROL SYSTEM WITH WI-FI CONTROL

A space saving control panel is fitted inside behind the burner door which would normally house the gas or oil burner. This touch screen panel allows for full operation of the cooker with separate controls for both the ovens and hobs.

The controls are simple and enable the user to select operating temperatures for the ovens, hobs settings offer everything up to a traditional boiling plate temperature and the ovens can be set up to a maximum of 280 degrees offering a traditional cooking experience with the flexibility of modern times.

The best features of the new advanced kit are firstly the in built programmable timer system that allows the user to program the ovens to come on over two events a day on a seven day program, this allows the user to set a program for every day of the week based on their preferences. And secondly the Wi-Fi remote control through the Smart Life app, this feature allows the user to change not only the timer settings but also individual ovens controls adjusting both temperature and whether each oven is on.

Optional Extras

Ideally fitted during installation (although it can be retrofitted if requested) there are several optional extras available for the ElectricKit Advanced system that include:

Wall Mount Control Display

A compact wall mounted display that removes the control system from behind the burner door to a more accessible location on the wall near the cooker. Always visible and easier to control than bending down to access the burner door the wall mount display offers added ease of use for the Advanced kit (please note for 30 amp night storage cookers this feature comes as standard with the kit due to the design of the 30 amp aga cooker)

Induction Hob Element

A choice of 2 power rated induction hob zones can be chosen on the  conversion to allow even greater versatility to your cooker. The induction zone replaces the left hand hotplate (otherwise known as the boiling plate) and replaces with a separately controlled single zone induction element. Induction elements offer instant controllable heat, similar to a gas hob burner, giving the user an efficient and flexible method of cooking, this can be useful when the ovens/hotplate are not in use and you require something quick i.e boiling the kettle or simply heating a single pan. Introducing the induction hob element does increase the power requirement for the cooker and depending on the element rating and size of the cooker will introduce additional power connection required for the conversion. Please contact a member of our team for more information.

Dual Radius Radiant Hob

A choice of 2 power rated induction hob zones can be chosen on the  conversion to allow even greater versatility to your cooker. The induction zone replaces the left hand hotplate (otherwise known as the boiling plate) and replaces with a separately controlled single zone induction element.

ELECTRICKIT CLASSIC CONVERSION

A new and improved conversion taking everything from its predecessor and introducing new features and benefits. Features that include additional heating elements around the ovens to reduce heat up times, a controllable booster element for the bottom right hand oven for those bigger culinary events, and the ability to change one of the hotplates to a single zone induction hob. Overall an excellent improvement on the original, depending on the type of cooker this model of conversion does have slightly more complicated power supplies so it’s best to contact our team to find the right kit for you.

SIMPLE, EASY TO USE CONTROL SYSTEM

A space saving control panel is fitted inside behind the burner door which would normally house the gas or oil burner. The controls are simple and enable separate operation of the hobs with settings from simmering to boiling (and everything in between)

The 2 oven and 4 oven kits come supplied with a handy LED display on the panel, this provides a real time read out of the temperature of the top oven along with the ability to change the top oven temperature as required

(Please note on 3 oven Kit no LED display control only standard dial control for this model)

On 3 oven and 4 oven kit an additional control knob allows independent operation of the baking oven (bottom LH) on 3 oven AGA and the Left Hand Ovens of the Hotcupboard on a 4 oven model.

Bottom Oven Booster Element

The Classic conversion also includes the bottom right oven booster element fitted as standard, this booster element allows the user to control an additional element in the base of the bottom right hand oven. This booster element allows the oven to increase the overall temperature of the oven up to baking or even low roasting temperatures, handy for those bigger occasions like the old faithful Sunday roast or the most important meal of the year…Christmas.

Timer Control (Optional Extra)

A time clock operation can be chosen to bring on the ovens. Ideally fitted during installation (although it can be retrofitted if requested) we use a simple but reliable timer system that be used to bring the ovens on at up to 3 different times each day, handy for keeping those running costs down but ensuring the cooker is ready to go when you are.

Induction Hob Element (Optional Extra)

A choice of 2 power rated induction hob zones can be chosen on the ‘Classic’ conversion to allow even greater versatility to your cooker. RUNNING COSTS

As every house is different it is difficult to predict exact running costs per household, several factors will impact how much the conversion will cost you to run. However tests show that when used to maximum efficiency (only running the Aga when required) daily running costs can be found to be around £1.00 per day or less (July 2024 unit pricing).

If you wish to try and run the AGA in a more traditional sense or if you are looking for more of that heat source to the room, this may well be considerably higher especially in the cooler seasons. For example running the ovens at 220° will result in costs of around £15 – £20 per week (July 2024 unit pricing). This may be offset by much lower running costs in the Summer season or utilising the optional timer kit to help manage and maintain running costs.

Leaving the hot plates on at low heat will increase running costs – for most efficient use, hobs should be turned on only for use.

WORKING EXAMPLE OF RUNNING COSTS

The developers of the conversion produced a field trial usage figures of the ‘Original’ conversion (calculated over a 12 month period in 2011) prices have been adjusted to reflect the electricity prices as of July 2024 (22.36p pkWh)

The users in question were a household of 2 working during the day.

The converted Aga was used as follows:

SPRING

3 months timed operation on times 06.00 – 09.00 / 16:00 – 21.30 – 615Kw used

SUMMER

3 months switched on when needed for cooking – 287Kw used

AUTUMN

3 months timed operation on times 06:00 – 09:00 / 16.00 – 21.30 – 454Kw used

WINTER

3 months with oven on 24 hours a day – 708Kw used

The hobs were used only when required, this gave a total annual usage of 2064KW used.

This works out as an average weekly running cost of £8.86 per week. (Based on July 2024 average price 22.36p pkWh)
